FLOWER CARE and ADVICE
Please be aware that some Flowers and Plants are Poisonous to Cats and Dogs.
Including: - Aloe Vera, Amaryllis, Azalea, Begonia, Chrysanthemum, Crocus, Cyclamen, Daffodils, Foxglove, Hyacinth, Ivy, Lavender, Lilies, Calla Lily, Lily of the Valley, Peace Lily, Poinsettia. Tulips, Wisteria
Please note: all parts of a lily are highly toxic to cats and can cause death if ingested
Lily Pollen Stains!
If you get any pollen on your clothes, gently lift the pollen off with sticky tape/sellotape. Do not rub or add water as it will stain!
If your lilies drop pollen on the carpet or window ledge, vacuum it up, do not rub into your carpet, as it will stain. Remember to dry wipe the vauum nozzle after use
As the lily heads open gently remove the pollen sacs by sliding them off their filaments, if you do this as soon as the flower heads open, the pollen sacs are less likely to stain
A Wrap of Flowers
Carefully unwrap your flowers upon receipt
Add your flower food to luke warm water in a clean vase
Re-cut all the stems on an angle with a sharp knife or scissors, removing approx. 2-3cm and remove any leaves which may be under the water level
Arrange your flowers in a vase and place away from direct sunlight, draughts, radiators & your fruit bowl! The cooler the room, the longer your flowers will last.
Either change the water every couple of days or top up the water level and re-cut the stems. Change the water at least once a week
Remove any faded blooms to encourage new buds to open and enjoy!
Aqua Packed and Hand Tied Bouquets
The Aqua pack water bubble is designed for transport rather than use as a "vase". Flowers can be left in their water bubble overnight as long as all the stems are sitting in water
To remove the water bubble, hold the flowers upright over the sink and snip the water bag with a pair of scissors to release the water
Unwrap your flowers carefully, unless you wish to keep the wrapping on. Re-cut the stems on an angle
Do not untie the flowers - keeping the flowers bound will hold the design of the bouquet, especially if some of the stems are shorter
If your stems are the same length and you would like a more relaxed effect, then untie the stems once you have checked that the vase is the correct size for your flowers
Designs in Floral Foam
If you have receieved a basket or arrangement of fresh flowers in floral foam you will need to keep the foam wet. Either add water or a few ice cubes to your arrangement - do not let the foam dry out
Tips To Help Your Flowers Last Longer...
Keep It Clean It is very important to keep your vases and tools (knives, scissors & seceteurs) clean to prevent bacteria affecting your flowers. Bacteria blocks the cells of the flower's stem preventing water uptake and reduces the longevity of your flowers
Use the flower food supplied, as well as containing food, it will also help keep the water clean. Either top up the water level when needed or change the water in your vase every couple of days. Change the water at least once a week and re-cut the stems on an angle. Flowers do not like sitting in cloudy, dirty water, in particular Gerbera & Roses
Keep your flowers away from the fruit bowl! Fresh fruit gives off ethylene gas which interfers with the ethylene produced in the flower resulting in premature aging and a shotened life span
Keep your flowers away from sunny windows & radiators - the cooler the room, the longer your flowers will last
The right size vase - the height of your vase should be approx 1/3 of the overall height of your flower arrangement. If your vase is too big you could carefully place some clean pebbles or glass stones at the bottom of the vase or crunch up some cellophane to sit your flowers on
Long Lasting Flowers - some cut flowers naturally last longer than others, for example: -
Alstromeria, Anthurium, Carnations, Chrysantemum, Eryngium, Hypericum, Leucadendron, Oriental Lilies, Lisianthus, Orchids, Protea, Spray Carnations, Spray Chrysanthemum, Strelitzia, Sunflowers,
